One of the most important settings when playing Counter-Strike Source or any FPS for that matter is setting up your mouse correctly to fit your game style. There are a lot of rumors that in order for you to become good in CS you need to master low sensitivity. That is false. Play with the sensitivity that suits your gameplay, comfort, hand movement, and reflexes. The primary settings that will affect your game play in CS is your window's mouse settings, your mouse's drivers and some advanced settings usually accessible through your mouse software.
For Counter-Strike, I like to set the window's mouse setting to be the same as the settings in my mouse's software settings. For example, I have my window's pointer speed set to the 4th notch and my Razer Copperhead's speed sensitivity also to the 4th notch in the x ad y movement. Turning off acceleration in windows, your mouse software and in Counter-Strike Source is ideal. Acceleration in CS is very difficult to control and produces poor accuracy with your shooting. There is also an option in Counter-Strike that "smooths mouse movement" and is toggled on and off in the advanced menu screen. Make sure this is off because it takes resources and actually hurts your accuracy. Counter-Strike also has sensitivity settings for the mouse. I strive to have my mouse movement in CS mirror my desktop settings - the pointer travels the same distance in game as on my desktop. Using this sensitivity command helps to fine tune this match. Many newer players who AWP or snipe with the zoom view do not know that there is actually an additional mouse senitivity that they can adjust specifically for zoomed views. The command in Counter-Strike for this is zoom_sensitivity_ratio. I like to also adjust this to match my desktop setting and usually have this set to 1.2. The default value is 1 which just feels weird for me. An advanced technique like snap shots with your awp in zoomed viewed is achieved by adjusting this setting too. Its a trial and error adjusting this setting for consistent quick awp shots that are accurate.

Thaanks man, i just bought the deathadder and, i needed teh settings fr CS
i have a lachesis, and i can’t play beter with this mouse, maybe the settings are not correct for cs., can u help me ? ..thank you very much!
Actually, it doesn’t matter if you get the “latest” mouse out there. Or spend a zillion on the best hardware to get rid of input/computer generated lag.. If you ain’t good at this game, you just ain’t. Perhaps training could make you better, or not. It’s like driving – not everyone can drive a car.
Also, training IS something you MUST do. Start with knife only in CS-skirmish, and advance until you can control every weapon in the game. After that, turn of “footsteps”. And after that… Disable sound, you need to stay focused – and that is a good way to use the other senses. Don’t play late hours, you are too tired then. Keep training your skills, at the end you and only you will know if you are a good player or not.
