Dust 2 is probably the most popular Counter-Strike Source Map attracting beginners to veterans of CS. It is just very well balanced and the map layout is great - you have long (long A), medium (short A to bombsite A), very long (T spawn and Mid double doors) and short range (halls and b tunnels) to play with here. You can really train yourself to get better at all these ranges by just rushing, attacking, or concentrating your efforts at one of these areas of the map until you mastered it.
De_dust is a fun map but is less balanced. The CT side have a heavy advantage with the main hall having 2 openings on the CT side versus the T side only have 1 straight entry. Going under the bridge is a deathtrap without good team coordination. The key to dust 1 on T side is team rushing the bombsite B or right exit with bridge rush simultaneously. However, one good CT with a flash can disrupt the fairly easily. Below are some tips for Dust 2 I found quite good for public servers. Sticking together won't let you see much action unless you are in the front of the pack leading the attacks.
T Stretegies for De_Dust2
The one and most important rules for T at De_Dust2 is to STICK TOGETHER. If you dont you will die by my strategies for CT. T's may not have the best gun but there more powerful including when you have all of eachother together. Give the bomb to the worst player on your team. The other 2 strongest will guard him, if he drops the bomb theres still of you left so give it to the 2nd strongest. The best player on your team must stay in front of you. If there are 3 people or more stick together and make sure the guy with the bomb is in the middle. That should be the place the least damage will occur.
When rushing long A as T’s, couple of things to keep in mind, first – The absolute worst thing you can do is stop in the doorway, if long A is lost say so, if not - rush in, don’t just stay in the doors and cause a bottle neck, I have seen 4 people die by one nade because of someone that decided to stay in the door way – MOVE OUT OF THE WAY!
For a successful rush try this:
as you approach the t’s side of the double doors to long A, chuck a flash into the air over the wall, careful so it does not bounce back and get your team though – Keep rushing, next get a HE out and as you exit the second doors throw the HE nade towards the corner (one that goes toward A) – keep moving after the throw and get behind the crate, at this time your team mates should be coming out of the doors too, hopefully this foiled ct’s attempts to stop you.
As CT’s Long A is Very hard to hold once the T’s get to the ditch part (basically it’s a sniper round at that point), your job is to stop t’s coming through the doors, and give them a bottleneck – you scare one guy you will block their entire rush – you win.
Holding A after bombs planted as T’s - you need at least 3 guys to hold A, very hard to hold in with less – sniping from long A works only as long as CT’s don’t come from T’s spawn, best tactic seams to be one guy by the car managing T-spawn tunnel and long, and one guy on top holding short A… if you have more people send couple down long, couple down to T spawn.
If bomb is planted at A – as CT your life gets hard, I think the best approach is short A, if you get a few people one of you can get to the bomb while the rest hold of the t’s at long. Watch out for snipers – smoke it before you defuse.
Site B:
Getting to B as T’s is hard if the other team rushed to hold B. Best way is massive rush, don’t waste flashes/he nades, they are realty not effective rushing b, If other team has a sniper you might want to smoke the tunnel entrance but at that point chances are that B is lost. Once is a while B can be taken by flanking – couple of people try to get to B from going down through the doors at the middle and up to b, while the rest rush b by the tunnel.
As a CT, B is easy to hold as long as you get there first, set up a sniper down behind the bricks watching the tunnel, and couple people up close for damage dealing, watch your back though, unsuspecting defenders can get owned by couple of T’s coming up from behind.
Holding B after plant – well as T’s your job now got easy, if you got the manpower just sit tight and hold of any rushes… if your low on people best place to defend is from the tunnel (stand half way in), have flash nade in hand and primed, and wait – if you here footsteps throw, get in – own – rinse repeat. Once in a while peek out to make sure bomb is safe, remember to walk not run as it will give your position away… I held of 4 CTs this way and I was the only one left.
As CT you might as well save your selves – go to A, getting B back is very hard, you will either need many people in a rush and try to sneak one in to defuse while the others keep the attention. Or hope that the other team is not defending one of the entrances… watch the tunnel, if T’s only have one or two people they will be in there waiting to here the defuse sound.
Well that’s it for now – Other people - get in and give ideas – or start a new map thread! I would like to play T’s on dust2 – so my tactics were leaning toward T’s and only talking about counter tactics – lets here some new ones from CT perspective!
TNX!
