When i originally got CS i played it for maybe 1 day and just completely lost interest because i was a nub and couldn't keep up with anyone ingame. I got CSS yesterday and the feeling has returned, should i play the game NOT in the interest of having fun since i suck, but in the interest of getting better through experiance? Or should i just not waste my time playing CSS until i get that urge to kill then take that time to get better when i want to play it?
(I want to get known and have clans want me and shit but its really annoying when im constantly dieing and just suck it up in the corner.)

I had the same exact feeling when I first played cs. I felt like : what is the point of playing this? Unlike rts and other games, you can't see your character progress. So for CS, i just didn't get it, until I played Max Payne.

CS is not about leveling your character or finding cool items. You are the character. The more you play the more you learn and your skills increase. I know you might think its impossible to get as good as some top players, but believe me you definately can if you want to and try.

And once you have attained true pwnage skills in cs, you have mastered pretty much all fps'ers and you can definately get a good high from pwning others in cs. I can't exactly describe it fully, you have to experience it for yourself. The next time you get the feeling "why am i playing this? or I won't get any better even if I played more." try to spectate one of the top players in the server and imagine being 10 times as good as them and then ask your self how can I become that good. That is when you want and seek to learn. And when you really get into CS, you will see that it is not just a one dimensional game of just point click and kill. It is much much more.

When a student is willing to learn, a teacher will appear.

Well, honestly, if you work hard enough, and really WANT to go professional - you can do well in CS 1.6 and CS:S. From what I've seen, there hasn't been much development in CS:S (for tournaments and such), but I don't keep up with that.

Of course, your choice of either game is yours. Do you really feel like you can and are willing to do everything possible to get there? Are you really going to spend hours practicing with your clan to perfect a strat? But it really depends on what kind of fame you want (Being recognized in Pubs, or like CAL-I). Personally, I'd stick with CS 1.6, more players and the gameplay seems much less complex.

I've played CS 1.6 for a little over 4 months now, but if you need help and your choice is CS 1.6, PM me. Good Luck!

From what I have been seeing and hearing, CS players are migrating to CS:Source from 1.6 The CAL and CPL will eventually attract more players to CS:S. It seems that CS:S is not as popular as CS 1.6 because of the PC requirements needed to run it very smoothly. But that will eventually change as technolgy catches up it these types of games. Just look at Dell's gaming pcs now. You can get a top notch SLI system with dual 7800s for around 2500 bones. And when ATI's multi GPU scaling system hits the market, every CS gamer will ba able to get constant 200 fps on CS:S

I started playing cs becuase of a girl . . .
She told me it would be fun I was like whatever Ill give it a try.

I had been playing Doom forever and it was similar.

I just remember for the longest time i would die withing 10 secs of a round start. I got sick of it and got better overtime. But you have to remember things were different back when I started there was no dust2. Biggest map everyone played was dust. The rest of the maps were hostage maps mainly.

The more you play it the better you will get , same is true with anything you do in life.

As far as 1.6 vs. source: they are two different games that share alot of similarties. The really really cool thing about source right now is that its in it's infancy. You look at it on the calsite there is only open, main, and invite. Tihs is a good time to put together a good team and make main. Play a few seasosn of main to make it to invite. Im telling you guys we have to step it up and get scrimming becuase I think we are good enough to go main.

awww screw main were taking it to I then to CPL of course....but yah i agree i think we should start having practices to learn tactics and be soooo comfortable with eachother we know each and every thing each other is going to do

Congrats Insanity, you are now an "Awakened Noob"

Yea last night's scrim was pretty fun but we didnt have much strats prepared for it. I'll make a new forum to keep track of or progress and document our journey to pwnage in CPL and keep all the tactics there.
