So help me decide which equipment to get...as far as video cards go i'm looking at these...
Video Cards:

I'm looking for a reliable card that runs cool and is between 200-300 dollars. Need to have 60+ frames on cs at all times, no matter what happens in game.
Sound Cards
I really just want something that is nice, cheap and effective. I'm not looking for a surround experience seeing as how I always use headphones.
Is this one good?

Case
Need something to handle all of the equipment. I travel between my dorm and home a lot, so to have something easy to transport but has great air circulation would be great...

200-300 if possible. I heard ati runs better with hl2 so i may head in that direction.
The card i have now is a sapphirre, which runs hot so I prefer not to use that manufacturer anymore. Anyone know of a good manufacturer + card?

Older Sapphires had problems (years ago), but not now. So much so that Sapphire are actually the manufacturer of the ATi branded cards.
I own a Sapphire X850 XTPE myself and am really happy with it.

video card: go with the x850
sound card: is it THAT important? even if it is thats fine.
Case: go with the tt (thermaltake) they normally have pretty good build quality. the other two will most likely be shitty or hard to work in. + tsunamis have pretty good working room.

I have never understood the fascination with cases... I suppose regular LAN goers might like to show off their neon but whatever.
As long as there is good air flow, plenty of fans and whatnot, cheap bendy crap will do fine for me. I never use the PSUs that come with them anyway.

Well the thing is the current soundcard i have is a soundblaster live which is mega years old. I should prolly get something remotely modern.

stick with AMD, they're better for high performance single task.
make sure you get some speedy ram, like 4200 or higher. It will cost u a lot more but it's worth it.
i like ATi better since the last few years, but wutevs. Just make sure u get pci express mobo/vid card.

oh fosho solid hell yea im stickin with amd and ati all the way bro!!! 8) , im jus think if i wana get a fx or dual core processor or what video card maybe if i get 1, but my 9800xt is leet so far , no joke either

creature heres a simple way to put it. If you do alot of multi tasking with bigger programs. ..:::Example: lots of photoshop+games+internet+vent + aim+norton antivirus and stuff like that:::.. then go with a dual core. If you plan on doing only one RAM hog at a time, such as cs:s or photoshop, then you should use a FX because then you use the whole cpu's potential, as opposed to a dual core where half sits idle and half is busting its ass.
As for Gpus and Video Cards- Since you are sticking with ATI and that your going to have a pci16x instead of AGP, assuming your 9800xt is agp like mine, then you will want to go with one of the higher grade cards such as a 1800 or something along those lines. Minimum with a PCI i'd go with a 850
Just my 2cents+ an explanation of the dual core vs FX

Yea i like it. The only problem is the front panel is pretty cheap. It is made out of plastic. The air flow is good thou.
