Hey guys,

I've been having a problem since I bought the game (around 2 months ago) where I spazz out and jerk across the screen. I began to notice on my net graph, that whenever I lag, the 'in' part of the graph skyrockets to around 1400 and then plummets(sp?) to around 40, and then back to the usual of around 150-200. My 'out' section of the graph maintains a steady figure and hardly ever increases to an un-natural amount.

I have a 2mg connection, T2 I think it is for you guys over the pond? And I've noticed that whenever this 'lag' occurs, my ping stays steady, usually around 20-30.
I just thought I might ask you guys if I have a problem with my rates or something is wrong with my pc etc. 'cos I really am a noob when it comes to CS.

Thanks in advance,

Sam.

Well, I can tell you one thing. I've got only 512 mb of ram, and a 1.8Ghz processer from AMD. Bugger If I can remember it's model, though. I don't usually have a problem except on SMALL maps which spawn a lot of weapons at the beginning.

Drop your rates to around 33 each, then gradually increase them until you don't have any problems.

your problem is not likely entirely due to your ISP.

your CPU and GPU probably need an upgrade...
for the time being, try adjusting your rates like macabaybre said, it may or may not help you.

I lowered my rates to around 60 each, it seems to 'lag' alot less, but now its a different sort of 'lag' only noticable if you experienced the type before hand. I have a feeling that my router might be affecting it slightly. I dont get the internet directly from a cable, I get it from a pc in another room, so maybe the connection is temporarily cut off.. hm.

About upgrading, I can muster up about ?100 (around $175), could you recommend what I should buy/upgrade? I certainly know my processor could be replaced, but other than that I have no clue :S

Thanks again..

what kind of video card you have and how much memory does it have on the board?

I bought a ATI Radion 9600SE 128mb, around 7 months ago.

Memory on the board?

If I understand I think its 160gb...

128 mb is the amount of memory on the card. that's all i wanted to know...not a mind blowing card but it's okay...you may want to get pig or grogan's config so that you minimize the stress on your system.

ah, ok misread your post :)

I'm hoping to fully upgrade my pc some time in the future, but first I need to get a job. I'm too lazy to work for money...

maybe I could whore myself!
