Hey my name is Pancho Daz, I usually play on blood assault's.
But I am here because I regularily visit WoP's website and I think you guys are great. My PC is a dell Inspiron 1100 laptop with Intel R, Pentium R, 4CPU, 2.40GHZ,2.39GHZ and 384 MB of RAM.

When I first started playing CSS about 2monthes ago I realised that I could only play on blood assault, iceworld css and some awp maps becaues when I went on dust or militia or any of those maps I lagged so much that I couldn't move. I have ADSL internet so i'm not internet laggin I think i'm laggin because of lack of RAM??

Any way I was wondering what I can do about this, whether I need to buy a new comp or can I fix it, My vid card is integrated.

Oh and btw i'm 12 so can I have any answers in english please:)

I am getting a new comp in august but my parents don't understand the world of computers so they are just getting one from software supermarket and i'm not sure if that will be a upgrade. They are looking around the $1500 to $2000 mark in Australian money

What do you mean by that? Like an actual comp screen?

If you are getting 20 fps, you are basically not even playing the game. Ditch your laptop and just get the new computer. Make sure it can run CS at 100 fps.

On a reasonable budget for good CSS Performance and good looks.....

Video Card : ATI Radeon X850 or GeForce 7800GT

RAM : Just get 1 Gig of RAM (single stick) unless you find an awesome deal on 2 gigs. RAM is easy to upgrade for cheap.

CPU : I suggest AMD over Intel.... Get at least an AMD 3800, bare minimum.

that should help you get started... try to build the computer yourself or pay someone to build it for you, you will get waaaay overcharged if you buy from a big company (Like Dell, or HP).

check www.newegg.com for wholesale direct prices on all computer parts and see what's in your pricerange.

Be sure if you get an AMD processor that it has "X2" beside the name. This means dual core, which especialy for todays new and coming games eat up, the new dual core will allow you to play with much better performance than say a regular AMD 64 processor, not to mention you can multitask while playing games like CS:Source with ease. With Dual core it's like 2 different processors at the price of one, it will greatly benefit you in the future, if you really care.

When you buy the ram make sure it has a heat sink on it so that it doesn't overheat. I recommend OCZ brand because it provides all the goods for a pretty good price.

I prefer intel over amd - make sure it's northwood and not prescott chipset. Prescott tends to overheat. Make sure it's 3.0 or more.

Geforce7800 is good...i got one but sometimes I fall below 60 frames. If you wanna play source I recommend ATI just because valve built the game around their video cards so they tend to perform better on the source engine.

Case...make sure it has lots of fans and good ventilation.

Power supply...make sure it's a minimum of 500 watts. Don't use what comes with your case or else you may find yourself blowing your card/powersupply/other materials cause of the lack of power.

So yeah...if you want specific parts I can recommend some to you...how much are you looking to spend exactly?

Yeah, I remember that rew, I think you were bitching about your 7800 sucking on the server like the other week over vacation, what's with that bro?
I mean, is it because it's just a regular one? I mean do you like have everything up all the way maxed out and everything? Even if so man, I thought that only maybe 6800 might get 55fps once in awhile when things heat up max, what's with that? It just doesn't make sense really to me :(

I have it on pretty decent settings. At 800 x 600 i'll get constant 60 but I like to play at 1024.

I have a 7800GT and it is good, but if you want a constant 80 frames you'll probably want dual SLI.

Man I get an average of 55fps with everything on High and on same resolution, only I'm using a 6200! So I kinda think that yours just maybe stinks with Source or something?

on most maps if I don't have fps max on I get about 80-100 fps.

It isn't consistent though, it has fallen, on occasion, below 40.

My average must be around 70 fps. The fact that it falls below that average is what bugs me.

I've also noticed that moving stuff between low and high does nothing frame wise for me.

if my models are set to high quality, it literally takes 5 minutes for a map to load.

Lol, that is kinda crappy, I think especially for a 7800 man, your CPU or something must be holding you back man, that's just to funny, unless you have like 15 dudes on screen shooting at each other at the same time, than you shouldn't get below 60 my friend.
