I'm looking for a new video card that'll be able to handle (even if only at low res) the new games that are coming out now, or that will be coming out soon. The problem is, my interface is AGP 8x, not PCI-E, so it could be a little tricky.

Anyone have any advice for me?

You can get a good 7600GT for $150-$200, but if you spend about 80 bucks more you can get a 7900GT.... great card and will make all your games in 1690x1050 look amazing.

The best from ATI in that range is the x1600XT or the x850XT... both are outperformed by the 7600GT if I remember correcty from Tom's Hardware... but I still recommend the 7900 because it's a cheap card for the extendability to Vista.

PS - 100fps in 1690x1050 with everything turned up high for HL2.

That of course is for PCI...

So for you...i'd recommend either a 6800GT or a 9800 pro...but both are pretty outdated.

The x850XTPE is the best AGP card right now for the money.
