Xenogears, and the hunt for old school classics

I'm a huge collector of classic games for the Super NES and the PlayStation systems (both PSX and PS2), and I've been going on one of my eBay rampages lately. Back into reading lots of editorial reviews, fan/customer reviews and alot of research into what is considered by most to be the best games for the PSX and Super NES systems. Some are easy to get your hands on for fair prices, while others are damn expensive and very, very hard to find. (Valkyrie Profile, anyone?)

My recent blind purchase is an experimental RPG from Squaresoft made back in 1998 for the PSX called, Xenogears. Online, the reviews by both editors and gamers have been a love-it-or-hate-it affair. Has anyone here played the game before, and if so, how was it?

(Any old school classics you'd recommend as must owns? Suggestions are welcome!)

I played it for a few days on a pc emulater. It was ok but nothing memorable and I didnt really get into it.

Xenogears is a pretty damn good RPG. Story is so captivating it'll make you pass it twice or more. After that there is Star Ocean, all the final fantasies ( 7 is the best imo, followed by the fifth ). I'll dig up my old RPG rom list, had over 15 awesome RPG's in there. By the way, Valkyrie Profile wasn't that fun for me.
