"The first original title from Capcom's Clover Studio -- headed up by Viewtiful Joe producer Atsushi Inaba. Okami takes place in a time when people still believed in the existence of God. The world has become a lifeless place, as shown in the game's use of Hokusai-style Japanese woodblock print visuals. Playing as Ama Terasu, a sun god who takes on the form of a wolf, your goal is to bring life back to the world. Bringing life back to the world involves defeating lots of beasts. With each beast you defeat, the world's life force is restored just a bit, with colors and eventually people appearing. Famitsu reveals two of the game's main beasts, the Ama no Jyaku and the Nue. Ama no Jyaku has the ability to peep on what others are thinking and disturbs them by doing the opposite of what they want. Nue, meanwhile, gains strength with every sip of the alcohol that he carries with him."

I think that the other up-and-coming PS2 games Guitar Hero II and God of War II are gonna have some definite competition for Game Of The Year.

Man, as if we couldn't get enough great releases for the PS2 system last year (Guitar Hero, Shadow of the Colossus, God of War, Tekken 5, Devil May Cry 3, etc.), here comes even more great stuff to knock our socks off before PlayStation 3 comes for the takeover!

Y'know, on the other hand, everyone thought that it would've been God of War that was going to reap in the awards from last year, but it turned out that the majority of awards from several ceremonies all went to Shadow of the Colossus, including the esteemed Game of the Year award. God of War only saw some awards for Best Artwork and Guitar Hero took almost all of 'em home for Best Sound. Something tells me that there's gonna be the obligatory sympathy vote from all concerned for God of War II to be the reaper in awards for this year.

Let me take for example the Academy Awards. If an award wasn't honored to an actor that year for what is considered by many to be their best work, you can be sure they'll fit 'em in sooner or later for some mediocre/inferior work they did after. (Russell Crowe nominated for Best Actor in The Insider and lost; wins year after for Gladiator. Paul Newman nominated for Best Actor in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, The Hustler, Hud, Cool Hand Luke, and The Verdict, losing to all nominations; recieves the Honorary Award in 1986 and wins Best Actor shortly after for The Color of Money. There are so many more examples.) The bleeding-hearts cry out in anger or disapproval to the system for not giving credit where it was due. So they eventually cave in to those crying, repling to themselves with, "Alright, they deserve it. Whatever work they do next, they're up for the win."

I'm not saying that I think God of War II will be an inferior or mediocre work in comparison to the first. I'm not saying the team doesn't deserve to reap in the awards. (Intuitively, I also feel the game will be a knockout!) But so many people were crying over the total disregard for God of War at the awards ceremonies last year that I believe the judges will cave in next year to save face. Any which way it happens, I'm sure all PS2 gamers are gonna have a hell of a good time in the next year with some of these most promising releases coming our way!

God of War II sounds fun, havent even played the first one yet..

well, if you consider playing the demo at GameStop for 5-6 minutes then ya i have played it.. Dont worry ill be sure to play it before i get the second one. The Revolution should be a fun system, mainly because its fun doing family activities since I dont see my family very often and friends usually come over.. Hopefully the PS3 has some really nice FPS games; friends mainly play that

Damn straight. I'm sure that Half-Life 2 will rock for those who missed it on PC and XBOX. Another action game that I hope kicks some ass will be Stranglehold, a game featuring Chow-Yun Fat's character "Tequila" from director John Woo's Hong Kong action classic, Hard-Boiled.

Resident Evil 5, Grand Theft Auto IV, Call Of Duty 3, Assassin's Creed, Unreal Tournament 2007, Metal Gear Solid 4... the list just goes on! Why do I get the impression that Sony's PS3 is gonna own all the competition again in this next generation? :mrgreen:
