If you have a clear ice mat (like me) ie. not the black edition then put a piece of blank paper underneath the mat. You will find that the mouse does not skip when you pick it up (ie. to do a sharp turn). The IR beam seems to reflect off the ice mat surface and so you can move around if the mouse is slightly above the mat making general manovering very strange but this sorts it hope this helps some of you.

good tip but it also depends on what mouse you use. every copperhead I bought skipps and keeps moving hen i lift it up slightly, but the diamondbacks don't do that.

Maybe you don't have the latest drivers and don't have the older version of the mouse. The newer ones have a detector that picks up every movement even when its off the mat. Get the older ones that are in the big box on ebay.

check out the A4tech x7 lasergaming mouse : ), the 3x fire is pretty useless but the feel of the mouse is gr8 in my opinion!
